Job description:
The Industrial Process Director will lead a specialized, global team supporting Vallourec’s seamless pipes strategy. This newly formed department drives the development and optimization of processes, ensuring safety, performance, cost efficiency, and quality for one of the sub-activities of tube production.
You will guide a team of engineers and industrial managers, focusing on establishing best practices, standardizing operations, and developing regional hubs across our main location (North and South America, and Europe). This role requires a strategic vision, and the capacity to build a cohesive team across various international locations.
This industrial activity requires a good mastery of chemical processes and all the methods of surface treatment on metals.
The position can be based in Meudon (France) at the headquarter, or in Houson, US.
Mission and responsibilities:
- Process Leadership & Industrialization: Oversee industrialization of Vallourec’s processes, managing CAPEX projects aligned with corporate standards.
- Process Standardization & Best Practices: Define and implement standardized processes and performance benchmarks, optimizing safety and efficiency across production lines worldwide.
- Team Development & Regional Expansion: Develop a skills roadmap for the team, facilitating training and certification for experts and advisors to ensure each region’s technical proficiency and autonomy. Establish regional hubs across North America, South America, and Europe.
- Innovation & R&D Coordination: Lead initiatives to support product development for R&D, particularly in integrating digital advancements. Set priorities and manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables processes and other R&D projects.
- Performance Management & Reporting: Continuously enhance process performance through benchmarking, monitoring OEE, workforce efficiency, and consumables usage, regularly reporting on progress to executive leadership.
- Knowledge Sharing & Community Building: Promote best practices and technical expertise within Vallourec through workshops, knowledge-sharing platforms, and training programs, collaborating closely with plant directors, R&D centers, and the sourcing department.
Qualifications :
Expected background :
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience managing R&D process department or surface treatment manufacturing unit is required.
- Ademonstrated success in establishing standardized procedures for surface treatment and chemical processes, as well as leading initiatives for process improvements and technological innovation.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects across multiple locations, working collaboratively with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to meet performance goals.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Expertise in OCTG products will be appreciated.
Qualifications:
- Skilled in managing and developing diverse, intercultural teams in technical and industrial settings.
- In-depth knowledge of surface treatment technologies, familiarity with coating technologies, corrosion prevention methods, and industry standards for durability and quality in harsh environments
- Good knowledge of safety protocols, safety regulations, and environmental compliance in industrial settings.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and cost reduction strategies in industrial chemical processes.
- Basic knowledge of digital tools and Industry 4.0 technologies
Languages: Fluent in English, a C1 level is required. Proficiency in one or more additional languages is a plus: French, Spanish, or Portuguese, with an emphasis on regions of operation.

Our recruitment process:
The recruitment process consists of three steps:
1/ An initial interview via videoconference with a Talent Acquisition Manager to introduce Vallourec and discuss your background and motivations.
2/ A videoconference or in-person interview with the direct manager.
3/ A third interview via videoconference or in-person with the N+2 and/or a peer.
This process may vary depending on the position and geographic scope. An in-person interview is always included.
